Hunting Lodge
The Thornwell Oaks Hunting Lodge is a fantastic experience in the heart of Louisiana duck hunting country. This lodge is surrounded by 18 stately oak trees and incorporates the lodge atmosphere with modern luxuries. The great room welcomes guests with a majestic brick fireplace that partitions off the space in the dining room. Native duck mounts as well as many species of animals are imposing into the spaces throughout the lodge. The furniture is large scale, comfortable, and easy to maintain. The Gator Bar, featuring a gator hide, invites guests to enjoy libations while watching a separate tv. The sunroom provides a more relaxed gathering space with views of the the oaks. Beyond the sunroom, a deck with seating leads to a fire pit and an opportunity for viewing sunsets and stars.
Continuing the hunting theme, the powder rooms are named Drakes and Hens, and each features a tile accent wall that’s practical as well as impressive. Antique sconces are used in the Hens restroom along with a converted antique dresser which functions as the lavatory. In keeping with the concept of rustic luxury the kitchen cabinetry is simple, but the feature hood and lighting provide the interest. The dining room seats 14 and guests dine on custom pottery with the Thornwell logo. Not pictured are seven bedroom suites which accommodate two queen beds and an upscale bath. Each room is named after a species of duck and has a mount of the species in their room. As a thank you, each hunter is greeted with a bag of Thornwell rice on his bed. Down the hall from the bedrooms is a coffee and snack area for hunters and an adjacent storage room for hunting gear. The coffee area has built in seating and burlap pillows printed with the Thornwell logo. These small details are important to the branding of this lodge.
